Public wants more protection for Moreton Bay: McNamara

Moreton Bay Draft Zoning Plan Response has been completed and many thanks to all of our supporters - an excellent and very significant response.
We wish to maintain the campaign and suggest how you can help

Moreton Bay is a beautiful tapestry of islands, beaches, coral and rocky reefs and seagrass beds. Moreton Bay, is facing so much pressure from humans – a booming in population, coastal development, boating and fishing.

Each year 200 threatened turtles are found sick, injured or dead in Moreton Bay Marine Park and an average of 15 dugongs die from human impacts. These are threatened species and Moreton Bay should be made a secure sanctuary for them.

The Queensland Government must listen to scientific advice and protect at least one third of Moreton Bay Marine Park in ‘green zones’.
